What is Disc Golf?

Disc golf is a fun activity and sport where the player throws a flying disc (eg. "Frisbee") into a basket or target. Similar to ball golf, a disc golfer tees off from a tee pad, throwing the disc down the fairway towards the "hole" in the least number of throws. The "hole" can be made up of a predetermined target and is typically a metal basket with hanging chains that catch the disc. Typically there are nine or eighteen hole courses with fairways of varying lengths and challenges.

Disc golf is very easy to get started in and can be played by people of all ages, skill levels, and abilities. It is a sport that can be played at high competitive levels or enjoyed as a leisurely afternoon activity.

Courses found in municipal parks are often regularly maintained and well manicured, and are enjoyable on a fairly level terrain that is easy enough to traverse, yet still provides a challenge for the more experienced. Baskets placed at strategic locations around trees and shrubs add to the challenge of each fairway.
